Back From the Dead: Trapped with no room to escape

Room Escape (As a courtesy, I have blurred out the people whom I do not personally know)

My heart is pumping rapidly through my chest. With labored breathing, I scream out, “Don’t let him get me!” In  just thirty-eight minutes, I’ll be dead along with ten others. Now just seven minutes…two minutes…fourteen seconds…my demise is imminent! A zombie outwitted us in just 60 minutes, and though I died and was unable to escape, it was the most exhilarating time I’ve had in a while.

To celebrate my third year wedding anniversary with my husband, along with some other family members, I searched for something we would both enjoy and offer us togetherness as a team. Since we are eagerly awaiting the season premiere of “The Walking Dead,” which is exactly two months away,  I knew the Room Escape Adventures: Trapped in a Room With a Zombie would be perfect! I was lucky enough to reside near one of the twelve cities where this event takes place. If you’re looking for a fun activity that requires some mental acuity and live near by one of the cities, I strongly urge you to participate. From a sociological and psychological aspect, it was amazing to see how people, based upon gender and even age, took on certain roles. Most of the men became protectors and domineering problem solvers, while the women were more observant, noticed small clues and even distracted the zombie as some of the men attempted to figure out riddles to free us from the room. You don’t have to be an avid follower of “The Walking Dead” in order to get an adrenaline rush from being trapped in a room with a zombie, but it certainly does add to the intensity!

All the best,

The Dead Will Walk Again Tomorrow!

Me as a Walker

Carol was surprisingly banished, Hershel, the moral compass of the group, was mercilessly slain. The Governor got what has been coming to him for a long time! After a mind-blowing mid-season finale, my anticipation for the return of “The Walking Dead” is at an all-time high. The AMC premiere clip is a teaser that at best only reveals that Carl is still alive, and I just need to know how the group has been divided and who will and has survived. Tomorrow evening cannot come soon enough!

My Guilty Obsession: The Walking Dead

Me as a Walker

No human is safe: not children, not women and certainly not men.  Everyone has the same “opportunity” to be gutted and eaten alive to come back as a walker, and for some bizarre reason, I love it!  The season premiere of “Walking Dead” is tomorrow, Sunday, October 13 at 9:00 pm, and my anticipation, along with my husband’s, has been building. What I love about this show is not just the terror of feeling like I am at a haunted house but the sociological aspects too which challenge each character’s humanity and will to live.  This show has been a springboard for deep “what would you do” discussions for me, and I often wonder if I would survive if I was a part of this dystopian society.  How do I know I am obsessed with this show?  Here’s a few reasons:

  1. I have the “The Walking Dead” game board.  Sadly, my husband turned me into a walker withing about ten minutes.
  2. My husband has the “The Walking Dead” video game which I became a bit obsessed with playing.  With those of you familiar with the game, I still struggle to get out of the police car and fight off the very first walker of the video game.
  3. I have the “The Walking Dead” compendium which collects the separate comic books into one volume and read it as a bedtime story from time to time.
  4. I planned on being a zombie with my husband for the “Run for Your Lives”, but the only parts available are as humans participating in the obstacle course.  I am not too sure if I could handle people who are playing the roles of zombies chasing me for a 5K obstacle course through a smoke house, maze, and blood blood (of course not real blood, but still…eww).  Maybe next year.
  5. Also, I purchased my husband a Walking Dead t-shirt for our second anniversary since the second one is cotton.

The script is well-written, the costuming is so believable and realistic.  I’ve come to know and root for certain characters and despise others.  I am ready for season four of “The Walking Dead.”  Are you a walker….I mean watcher? 😉

All the best,

Tanya
